Alliance University prioritizes innovation and protects the intellectual property rights (IPR) of its faculty, researchers, startups, and students through its IPR Cell. The cell fosters creativity, research, and new idea generation while managing the university's intellectual property assets and ensuring compliance with relevant laws.

Objectives:
- To provide assistance and guidance to inventors and creators in identifying, protecting, and commercializing their intellectual property assets through patents, copyrights, trademarks, and other appropriate mechanisms.
- To establish collaborations and partnerships with industry, research organizations, and government agencies to facilitate the transfer of university-developed technologies and foster entrepreneurship.
- To manage the university's intellectual property portfolio effectively, including the timely filing, prosecution, and maintenance of patents, copyrights, and trademarks.
- To contribute to the economic growth and social development of the region and the nation by facilitating the commercialization of university-generated intellectual property assets.

Functions of the IPR Cell
- Raise awareness about IPR among the university community through workshops, seminars, and training programs.
- Develop and implement the university's IPR policy and establish procedures for the identification, protection, and commercialization of intellectual property.
- Facilitate the process of patent filing, prosecution, and maintenance for innovations developed at the university.
- Promote collaborations and partnerships with industry and other research organizations for the commercialization of university-owned intellectual property.
- Conduct prior art searches and patentability assessments for research projects and inventions.
Procedure for IP Filing:
- Inventors (faculty, researchers, students) submit an IP disclosure form to the IPR Cell, describing their invention or creative work
- The IPR Cell evaluates the disclosure and conducts a prior art search and patentability assessment
- For non-patentable inventions or creative works, the IPR Cell advises on alternative IP protection strategies, such as copyright, trademark, or trade secret
- The IPR Cell facilitates the execution of appropriate agreements between the university and the inventors, ensuring fair distribution of rights and royalties.
