Master of Performing Arts

Overview

The contribution of performing arts to our country’s rich cultural heritage has opened avenues for professionals to enrich the landscape through a plethora of career opportunities in music, dance, and theatre. In accordance with this, Alliance School of Performing, Visual and Creative Arts through the Master of Performing Arts programme prepares artistes for the contemporary performing arts landscape. Through a meticulously crafted pedagogy designed to enrich performing arts education in India, the programme covers philosophy, tradition, values, art, science, culture, and religions of India – contributing to holistic development in all areas.

Currently the University is concentrating on collaborating with universities abroad for short term and semester exchange programmes and introducing Indian Performing Arts to foreign students.

Much of fostering well-being for the mind and body involves delving into the rich culture, traditions, and techniques of Indian arts, particularly within the realm of Bharatanatyam. Our aim is to cultivate the upcoming generation of dancers by offering comprehensive classes, interdisciplinary workshops, and engaging productions.

Eligibility

A graduate in any degree from a recognized University along with any government conducted examination certificate in Karnataka (or an equivalent body from other states) / A minimum of 5 years of learning experience from a reputed dance institution or guru / Undergraduate in Dance.

Programme Objectives

Prospective Employment and Career Prospects:
Become a professional performer (Dancer/Musician/Actor) with strong ethics and communication skills.

Entrepreneurship / Artepreneurship:
Establish dance institutes/studios and to work as entrepreneurs/artepreneurs with an ability to develop new projects and choreographic works.

Research:
Pursue research in reputed art institutes and centres of eminence at the national and international level. Students will describe a range of techniques related to performing arts and rhetorical strategies used in texts, including their relationship to audience, purpose and cultural contexts.

Continuous Learning:
Adapt lifelong learning with continuous improvement by expanding skillsets in response to a changing environment and new developments.
