The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) at Alliance College of Engineering and Design (ACED), Alliance University, Bangalore, has successfully organized and conducted a One-day Online Webinar on "Evolution of Indian Grid-Renewables, IOT and Smart Grid" in collaboration with National Design and Research Forum (NDRF) for the benefit of the academic community.

The session was conducted online from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on 11th December 2021.

Opportunities in today's power sector is marked by four growing trends: Electrification, Digitalization, Decarbonization, and Decentralization. The webinar focussed on these key challenges and barriers for the digitalisation journey of the power sector and the role of IoT in building the Smart Grid Structure.

The event witnessed a healthy participation by academicians, students, research scholars and industry experts. It commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Reeba Korah, Interim Dean, ACED and was followed by a talk by the guest speaker from NDRF Mr. K. Ramachandra, Former Director, GTRE-DRDO. The other eminent personalities from industry present during the event includes Dr. S. Seetharamu, Former Director, CPRI & Technical Advisor, NDRF and Dr. C. J. Jagadeesha, Former ISRO Scientist and Technical Advisor, NDRF.

The resource person for the event was Mr. Aditya Patil, Deputy Manager in Grid Interconnection Team, Enel Green Power. He has a rich experience in Sustainable Energy Project in Wind and Solar Power in grid integration.

The webinar provided an enriching outcome to all participants in understanding the current grid infrastructure and the role of IoT in revamping the existing network into a smart grid structure.
