The Department of MDP & Corporate Training Program of Alliance University organized an inter university competition ‘Saransh-2’ at the University Central Campus. In Sanskrit, the word Saransh means “Summary”, while a more colloquial usage stands for “Brevity”. The event gave a unique opportunity for the participants to connect to a topic and articulate its essence in their unique style, keeping the perspective intact.

Alliance has always believed that students should enhance their intellect by reading books. But reading books alone is not enough, they should also develop the skill of presentation. The National Education Policy of India focuses on learner centric education with emphasis on skill-based learning. In this endeavor, Alliance University conducted the second edition of Saransh, where students from leading B-Schools of Bengaluru battled it out to take away the titles for two competitions:

1. Pick ‘N’ Speak
2. Book Review

Pick ‘N’ Speak had participants pick one of the books and present the content through different perspectives to the judges. For the next competition, participants had to present reviews for books such as: The Tipping Point, Blue Ocean Strategy, Execution and more. Students from leading business schools in Bengaluru such as: GIBS Business School; Xavier Institute of Management & Entrepreneurship; HAL Management Academy; Christ University; ICFAI Business School; Symbiosis Institute of Business Management; GITAM University; Jain University - CMS Business School; National School of Business Academy and hosts Alliance University participated in this mega event and winners took away trophies and cash prizes.

As Ralph Waldo Emerson said: Speech is power: speech is to persuade, to convert, to compel. It is to bring another out of its bad sense into your good sense." It is with the ability to speak and present that leaders are forged. In the same spirit, Saransh intended to bring out leaders from among the student participants.

The concluding event had an address from the Alliance University Pro-Chancellor, Mr. Abhay G. Chebbi, who spoke about the importance of audience analysis and structuring of speech. The event was judged by the professors at the School of Business of Alliance University: Dr. Pratima Verma and Prof. Suresh B from the HRM Area, Dr. George Easaw from the Operations Management Area, and Dr. Uma Sreedhar who heads the Department of MDP & CTP.

The event witnessed Christ University as winners for Pick ‘N” Speak, HAL Management Academy as winners for Book Review and Jain University - CMS Business School as overall champions of Saransh 2022 - Edition – II.
