Alliance University marked the 76th Republic Day with a significant and reflective celebration that honoured the nation’s history and future aspirations. The event began with Mrs Shaila G. Chebbi hoisting the national flag, followed by a march past, and the Alliance flag was raised by Vice-Chancellor Dr Priestly Shan.
Dr Priestly Shan's Address
In his address, Dr Priestly Shan highlighted the importance of Republic Day and the historical milestones it signifies. He reminded the gathering of the adoption of the Constitution in 1950 and reflected on the Poorna Swaraj resolution passed in 1930, which laid the foundation for India's independence. Dr. Shan emphasised the importance of preserving India’s cultural and societal heritage while simultaneously working towards a progressive future. He encouraged the university community to uphold the values enshrined in the Constitution to achieve a better society.
Key Announcements and Initiatives
Dr Shan shared key initiatives for the coming year. He announced the launch of the "India Requires Solutions" course in February 2025, aimed at bridging the gap between academia, industry, and society. The programme seeks to address critical challenges and foster sustainable development in India. Additionally, plans for enhanced research and the establishment of skilling centres were discussed. Dr Shan also spoke about developing Olympic sports infrastructure by 2030, a vision that aligns with the country’s growth.
Student Achievements Recognised
The event also recognised students' outstanding achievements. Pro-Chancellor Mr Abhay G. Chebbi and Registrar Dr Matam Viswanathaiah presented awards to two students for their exceptional performances. Anuranan Gogoi, a B.Tech student, was awarded for his participation in Powerlifting at the national level. Thirumaal Rajen S.R., a BBA LLB student, received recognition for his victory in the Archery State Championship.
