The United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is one of the most ambitious and vital global agreements in recent history. Educational institutions have a substantial role to play in fulfilling the Sustainable Development Goals through leadership excellence, research collaborations, robust teaching-learning processes, community engagement and development, and effective campus operations. PACT 2030, the inaugural conclave held at Goa from March 10-12, 2022, witnessed the participation of 20 plus luminaries from renowned higher education institutions across the country to discuss, deliberate, and share institutional projects and best practices towards fulfilling the sustainable development goals.
As a founding member of PACT 2030, which stands for Pledge, Act, Change and Transform, Alliance University was represented at the conclave by the Pro-Chancellor, Mr. Abhay G. Chebbi. Highlighting the ongoing project of social outreach in the adopted villages, Mr. Abhay showcased the work done by the University that has contributed to social wellbeing, awareness, and enhancing livelihoods of the community members across the 5 villages. The project was very well received and was hugely appreciated and has opened doors for collaborative work among other leading universities.
Mr. Abhay participated in both the round tables held at the event, apart from also making an elevator pitch about the social development outreach as one of the ongoing projects at Alliance. One of the key highlights of the event was the signing of PACT2030 declaration by all founding members, as a mark of strengthening the resolve and commitment to enhance institutional preparedness in fulfilling the SDGs with enhanced rigor and focus.
The University extends its gratitude to QS India for hosting this carbon neutral event and providing a platform for intellectual exchange and bringing together senior leaders to showcase how educational institutions can contribute to the UN's agenda for global sustainable development.
Alliance University remains committed to enhancing lives and livelihoods among members in the surrounding communities and adopted villages and will also take up additional projects through collaborative efforts with NGOs, government bodies and other institutions in the near future.
