Inculcating the Mooting Culture: Alliance School of Law Moot Court Committee conducts Moot Orientation for First Year Students

Alliance School of Law Moot Court Committee (AMCC) under Dr. Abhishek Srivastava (President - AMCC), Prof. Ashish Pathak (Member - AMCC), Prof. Abhishek Sarma (Vice President - AMCC) and Prof. Shubhi Trivedi (Member -AMCC) conducted an orientation session for the first-year students of B.A. LL. B. & B.B.A. LL. B. 2022-27 batch.
Around 200 students attended the session with lot of enthusiasm and energy in the session. The President of AMCC Dr. Abhishek Srivastava started the session by highlighting the importance of Participation in Moot Court for Law Students. Prof. Ashish Pathak and Prof. Abhishek Sarma along with Dr. Abhishek Srivastava acted as Judges during the simulation of activities. Prof. Shubhi Trivedi also encouraged students to participate in Moot Court and other activities to enhance their skills.
The session that was hosted by senior batch student members of AMCC who began the presentation highlighting the need of Law Students to internalize the importance of mooting. The attendees were briefed about the essentials of mooting, including how to prepare a written statement or the memorials for a moot-court competition. The essentials of a memorial were discussed, with added emphasis given to establishing the jurisdiction under which the case is pleaded.
Furthermore, the presenters attempted to highlight to the attendees the significance of understanding the entire moot court problem or proposition, through which the issues of argument are framed before the appropriate jurisdiction.
Further, the coordinators gave a simulation of the mannerisms a speaker is supposed to display during a moot court. These included primers on how to address the court, the opposing counsels, how to answer questions posed by the judges, and even how to conduct themselves if they do not know the answer to a question.
