Inauguration Ceremony of International School Leaders' Summit (ISLS) 3.0 2024 at Alliance University

The International School Leaders' Summit (ISLS) 3.0 2024, held at Alliance University, witnessed a significant gathering of educators and leaders. The ceremony was supported by the Centre for Educational Development (CED Foundation), NITI Aayog, Global TALK Education Inc., and the Bharat Olympiad Foundation.
Address by Chief Guest
Shri. UT Khader, Honourable Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, highlighted the importance of guiding the younger generation in the modern consumerist era. He advocated for experiential learning through visits to institutions like ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization) and NIMHANS, Bengaluru.
Guest of Honor's Insights
Smt. Aisshwarya DKS Hegde, an educationist, and edupreneur, discussed the role of AI in prompting students to ask fundamental questions and understand broader concepts. She emphasized the ethical use of AI to maintain value systems and described education as acquiring knowledge to become the best version of oneself.
Focus on Quantum Science and Technology
Dr. Priyadarshi Nayak, Founder and Chairman of the CED Foundation, addressed the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology, recognized by the United Nations. He stressed the need for attention in these fields alongside AI and introduced the ALFA (Accessing Learning for All) pedagogy.
Educational Strategies and Goals
The Pro-Chancellor, Mr. Abhay G. Chebbi, discussed the importance of higher-order thinking and critical thinking. He supported a backward integration approach between school and university education and highlighted how AI can aid this process. He called for contributions towards India's aim to become the world's third-largest economy, aiming for 10% of the world's GDP and improving the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER).
Addressing Education Gaps
Dr. Priestly Shan Boaz, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic Affairs), highlighted the need to address gaps between school and university levels. He explained that skill education in areas such as tailoring, painting, and baking, following models from countries like the US, promotes creativity.
Mastery and Mindset
The Pro Vice-Chancellor (Incubation and Innovation) and the Dean of Alliance School of Business, Dr. Ray Titus, discussed mastery and mindset. He addressed gaps in students' academic pathways and suggested that facilitating agency over one's learning can help address weaknesses.
Acknowledgements and Closing Remarks
Registrar-General, Ms. Surekha Shetty, spoke about revolutionizing education by identifying gaps in the system and thanked the CED Foundation for their support. The event was attended by Alliance University leadership, including the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Banking, Finance, Development & New Initiatives), Mr. Prakash Siddappa Budur, the Registrar, Dr. Matam Viswanathaiah, and the Dean of Academic Affairs, Dr. V.J. Byra Reddy, along with staff, students, and other attendees.
