Alliance University proudly introduces "FlowBae," an innovative initiative aimed at prioritizing menstrual health and well-being for our female community.
"FlowBae" ensures convenience and guarantees uninterrupted access to sanitary pads for all students by strategically installing UPI-enabled sanitary pad vending machines across the campus. Additionally, to address sustainability concerns, eco-conscious disposal units will also be placed alongside.
Ms. Merin Meriya, Assistant Director, PR & Media Relations at Alliance University, in her welcome address on introducing the "FlowBae" initiative, emphasized the importance of menstrual hygiene and empowerment for female members. Ms. Mariya highlighted the initiative's goal of supporting female members and promoting a supportive environment.
Inaugurated by Dr. Reeba Korah, Professor and Interim Dean of Alliance College of Engineering and Design (ACED) at Alliance University, and complemented by an informative session from Ms. Shruthi Ponnappa, Branch Manager of Rentokil Initial, on 'Menstrual Hygiene and the Use of FlowBae' providing valuable guidance on effective menstrual health management.
The name "FlowBae" symbolizes a reliable ally throughout every woman's menstrual cycle, promoting confidence and challenging societal taboos. Utilizing a distinctive and sustainable process, discarded pads will be converted into tar and ash and then repurposed into small pods by economically disadvantaged women. These pods will be transformed into useful items such as pen stands or plant holders, reinforcing our dedication to environmental responsibility and empowering the community.
With a focus on environmental responsibility, Alliance University is dedicated to reducing our carbon footprint through quarterly emission reports specific to this initiative, demonstrating our commitment to promoting sustainable practices and empowering our female community.
With a female population of 2351 at our university, "FlowBae" aligns perfectly with the ethos of International Women's Day, emphasizing our dedication to supporting women's well-being.
