Building an Entrepreneurial Culture: Alliance University's Faculty Workshop On Design Thinking & Entrepreneurship

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Alliance College of Engineering and Design, Alliance University, Bangalore, in collaboration with the Institution's Innovation Council (Ministry of Education Initiative, Government of India), recently organized the highly anticipated 6-day online Faculty Workshop on Design Thinking and Entrepreneurship 2023. This immersive workshop, held from 19th to 24th June 2023, aimed to equip faculty members with the essential knowledge and skills in design thinking and entrepreneurship.
The workshop was specifically designed to empower educators interested in integrating design thinking and entrepreneurship principles into their teaching methodology. Participants had the opportunity to engage in interactive sessions, explore real-world case studies, and immerse themselves in hands-on activities. By delving into these immersive learning experiences, faculty members gained valuable insights into fostering a culture of innovation, enhancing problem-solving abilities, and cultivating an entrepreneurial mindset among students.

Dr. Sumer Singh explored design thinking and design research strategies, providing participants with a solid foundation in these key areas. Dr. Pankaj Upadhyay delved into design synthesis, equipping participants with the skills to effectively integrate design elements into their teaching and research.
Dr. Sunanda Roy focused on ideation and prototyping strategies, empowering faculty members to guide students in transforming ideas into tangible prototypes. Dr. Julien Paret emphasized the importance of effective communication and storytelling in conveying ideas, enabling participants to enhance their presentation skills and captivate their audience.
Dr. Mohit Hemanth Kumar provided insights into intellectual property rights (IPR) and patent filing, highlighting the significance of protecting innovative ideas and creations. Dr. Pratima Verma delved into data analytics and visualization, equipping participants with the tools to leverage data for informed decision-making.
To provide a holistic understanding of entrepreneurship, Dr. U Chandrashekhar facilitated discussions on teamwork and launched product and service challenges and startups. Mr. Lokesh V explored the intricacies of the business model canvas and design research, enabling participants to develop a strategic approach to entrepreneurship. The 6-day online Faculty Workshop on Design Thinking and Entrepreneurship proved to be a transformative experience for all participants.
