Alliance University, Bangalore hosted the CSR-NGO South Regional Conference 2012 on the theme, “A key to inclusive business through CSR-NGO partnerships”, on December 14-15, 2012. The Conference was jointly organized by Sosva Training and Promotion Institute (STAPI), Pune, a support service organization for the social sector and was supported by sponsors from the industry as well as the National Commission for Women. Alliance University, through the Conference envisioned a stronger role and participation of the community of scholars in promoting social advocacy and responsibility through enlightened initiatives in higher education: learning, research, scholarship and outreach programs. The organizers and participants at the Conference also called for a proactive role of the corporate sector in promoting programmatic initiatives directed at the social and voluntary sectors.

The Conference called for the formulation of strategies among stakeholders to facilitate a sustainable and meaningful corporate social responsibility that helps to ensure newer, socially-relevant business opportunities for corporations, in more sustainable ways. The Conference also highlighted the need for the greater social inclusion of women and empowerment, and their role in generating livelihoods for communities at the grassroots level. The two-day, CSR-NGO South Regional Conference 2012 brought together an accomplished array of business managers, government officials and NGO representatives under a common platform that pledged to engage social communities through institutional social responsibility.
