The Centre for Constitutional Law and Human Rights at the Alliance School of Law organised a special event commemorating Constitution Day. This occasion was a platform to reflect on the values enshrined in the Constitution and their relevance in today's world. Students and faculty came together to engage in meaningful discussions, participate in interactive activities, and honour the principles that guide the nation.
Talk on the Relevance of the Constitution
Dr V. Shyam Kishore, Professor and Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and Dean of the Alliance School of Law, delivered an insightful talk on the continuing significance of the Constitution and its Preamble in the 21st century. He emphasised how the Preamble symbolises democracy, equality, and justice as a foundation for the nation's governance. He explained that the Constitution remains a living document, adapting to the evolving aspirations of the people. Dr Shyam Kishore also led the reading of the Preamble, encouraging active participation from students and faculty and developing a collective reflection on its values.
Quiz on Constitutional Law
The event featured a quiz competition designed to assess and expand participants' knowledge of constitutional law. Questions covered a range of topics, including the historical evolution of the Constitution, its key provisions, and recent landmark judgments by the Supreme Court. The quiz encouraged healthy competition among participants and inspired a deeper understanding of the nation's legal framework.
Creative Expression through Poster Making
Another highlight of the day was a poster-making activity, which offered participants an opportunity to explore and express constitutional principles through art. This activity allowed students to creatively depict themes such as justice, equality, and liberty, helping them engage with the Constitution's core ideas in a unique way. The initiative combined education with creativity, promoting a deeper appreciation for the Constitution's guiding principles.
Reflections on Constitutional Values
The event concluded with reflections on the Constitution's enduring significance in shaping the nation's legal and social framework. By fostering awareness of democratic values and justice, the program inspired participants to uphold the ideals of the Constitution in their personal and professional lives. This observance reinforced the Alliance School of Law's commitment to instil a deeper understanding and respect for constitutional principles among its students and faculty.
