Alliance University's Magnificent Kannada Rajyotsava: Discovering Our Rich Culture

Alliance University echoed with cultural enthusiasm during the grand celebration of the 68th Kannada Rajyotsava. Organized by the Kannada Bhasha Kendra, Department of Language and Literature, and the Department of Student Support Services, the event showcased the rich tapestry of Karnataka's heritage.
Festivities in Full Swing:
From November 01 to November 06, 2023, the campus witnessed a burst of creativity as students, faculty, and staff participated in competitions ranging from Extempore and Elocution to Mono Acting, solo and group dance, and melodious solo and group songs.
Symbolic Flag Hoisting:
On November 02, 2023, the Basketball Court hosted a solemn flag-hoisting ceremony at 9:00 am. Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic Affairs) Dr. Priestley B Shan and Registrar Dr. Nivedita Mishra hoisted the flag amidst the stirring notes of the Kannada Nadageethe.
Culminating Celebration
November 08, 2023, marked the pinnacle of the festivities. Mrs. Shaila G Chebbi, Founding Member of Alliance University, and Mrs. Surekha Shetty, Registrar General, inaugurated the event with the lighting of the lamp and floral tributes to Goddess Bhuvaneshwari.
Keynote: Tracing Karnataka's Legacy
Dr. Vivekanand Sajjan provided insights into the historical significance of Kannada Rajyotsava. In the keynote address, Dr. Ratnakar Acharya highlighted Karnataka's rich royal legacy, acknowledging contributions from the Rashtrakutas to the kings of Mysore.
Tribute to Icons and Literary Giants:
Dr. Acharya paid homage to iconic figures like Kittoor Rani Chennamma and Onake Obavva. He traced the literary journey of Kannada, acknowledging contributions from classical poets like Pampa and Ranna to modern giants like Bendre and Ananthamurthy.
Preserving Heritage and Unity:
Dr. Vedashree A emphasized the significance of Karnataka's rich heritage in terms of resources, literature, language, and culture. She urged the community to preserve the Kannada language while respecting others, fostering cultural unity.
Awards and Acknowledgments:
The event concluded with the distribution of prizes to competition winners. Mr. Gagan and Ms. Shrishama, Alliance University students, skillfully anchored the proceedings. Prof. Kasaniya Naik extended gratitude to the gathering, reflecting on the diverse literary discussions and cultural activities that captivated the audience.
