Alliance University welcomed the BBA (Hons.) and B. Com. (Hons.) batches of 2024–28. The Pro Vice-Chancellor (Incubation and Innovation) and Dean of Alliance School of Business, Dr. Ray Titus, emphasized the importance of understanding historical trends to anticipate future market demands. Dr. Titus shared Steve Jobs' experience with calligraphy, learned from Robert Joseph Palladino, which influenced the design of the Macintosh in 1984.
Innovation Cycle Presentation
The Pro-Chancellor, Mr. Abhay G. Chebbi, delivered a presentation on innovation cycles. He explained the historical progression of technological advancements, starting with textile production, moving to steam power and railways, the development of electricity, the chemical industry, and the digital era. Mr. Chebbi stressed the importance of embracing technology and discussed "How to Be Successful" by Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI.
International Opportunities
The Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic Affairs), Dr. Priestly Shan, highlighted international opportunities available through 80 MoUs signed by the university. He encouraged students to interact with peers from other universities to broaden their exposure. Dr. Shan urged students to use the Makerspace at Alliance University to explore entrepreneurial ventures and contribute to the UNDP's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Embracing Failure and Success
Ms. Sushma R. Rao, Executive Vice President and Head of Brand Strategy (National Brands) at Mullen Lintas of MullenLowe Lintas Group, spoke about embracing failure and defining personal success. She encouraged students to set realistic goals and focus on character enhancement.
Experiential Learning
Mr. Karan Lakhwani, Head of India at AppTweak, discussed the benefits of experiential learning. He emphasized how exchanging ideas can facilitate the establishment and efficient operation of businesses.
Closing Remarks
The event was attended by the Registrar, Dr. Matam Viswanathaiah and the Registrar-General, Ms. Surekha Shetty. The new batch showed a strong spirit to become research scholars, corporate leaders, and entrepreneurs. We wish them success in their academic pursuits and looks forward to their journey ahead.
