Alliance University Students Gain Unprecedented Insights into ISRO's Space Endeavors
06 November, 2023
Students from Alliance University majoring in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electronics and Communication, and Electrical Engineering embarked on an unforgettable journey into the heart of India's space prowess. On November 6, 2023, they were granted an exclusive opportunity to explore the U R RAO SATELLITE CENTER in Bengaluru, an experience that unfolded as a gateway into the captivating world of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO).
Journey into the Cosmos:
The students kicked off their exploration of the U R RAO SATELLITE CENTER at 1:30 pm, culminating in a rendezvous with the prestigious ISRO centre by 2:30 pm. The visit commenced with a meticulous security check, each student being issued a visitor ID, setting the stage for an immersive experience.
Delving into the Cosmos: From Inception to Launch:
Once inside the seminar hall at the UR Rao Centre, students were treated to a riveting presentation. The discourse centered on ISRO's evolution, from its establishment on August 15, 1969, to its current standing as a global leader in space exploration. The students were privy to the intricate steps involved in satellite production, from conception to the awe-inspiring launch vehicle.
Behind the Scenes: Laboratories at 22–23 Degrees Celsius:
A highlight of the visit included a glimpse into the laboratories where satellites are meticulously constructed. Maintained at a precise temperature range of 22–23 degrees Celsius and adhering to stringent space lab standards, these labs restrict dust particles to a minimal 1000 mm/cm3. This behind-the-scenes insight underscored the precision and dedication embedded in ISRO's satellite production process.
Scaled Marvels and Inspiring Discoveries:
During the visit, students had the rare privilege of observing scaled models representing the diverse satellites successfully launched by ISRO. The scaled versions provided a tangible connection to the agency's groundbreaking achievements, including the historic Chandrayaan-1 mission in 2008, which unearthed water molecules on the moon, and the Mars Orbiter Mission in 2013, elevating India to the status of the first Asian nation to reach Mars orbit.
Charting Future Courses:
The enriching experience at the U R RAO SATELLITE CENTER has undoubtedly left an indelible mark on the students from various engineering disciplines. Armed with valuable insights into ISRO's accomplishments and contributions to space exploration and technology, these students are poised to channel their newfound inspiration into future endeavours. The visit not only deepened their appreciation for Mechanical, Aerospace, Electronics and Communication, and Electrical Engineering but also illuminated the significant role ISRO plays on the global stage.
