Alliance University Stands in Solidarity on the Calling of “Only One Earth” on World Environment Day
05 June, 2022
On the occasion of World Environment Day, members of Alliance University joined hands to clean up the peripheral areas of the University campus and raise awareness about the importance of saving the environment. Activities on the World Environment Day were organized by the Human Resource Department of Alliance University with strong support from the Department of Student Support Services, Rotaract Club and NSS unit of Alliance University.
In order to inculcate the value of protection of the environment under this year’s United Nations’ theme of “Only One Earth”, faculty, staff and students of the varsity conducted a cleanliness drive outside the University campus. The aim was to clean the surrounding areas of the recently adopted bus stops outside the University campus- Alliance University Chikkahagade Bus Stops. Also, the drive focused on raising awareness about saving the planet, facilitating the local stakeholders, University staff and students a cleaner, greener and sustainable environment.
To achieve the goal, a group of 75+ staff members and students volunteered to bring the change and rid the nearby grounds of waste and single use plastics harming the environment. It was a moment of great camaraderie as the faculty, staff and students worked hand-in-hand to take up the duty of protecting the environment and fulfilled the same with great enthusiasm and vigour. The event was a grand success as the volunteers not only cleaned the bus stops and the nearby areas but in doing so were also able to raise awareness towards promoting a healthy and clean environment and especially about forsaking single use plastics.
Alliance University has been a strong advocate of a greener environment and that reflects in the lush green cover of the varsity campus. The members of the University through their act call upon all stakeholders to imbibe a culture of caring for the environment.
