Alliance University takes pride in its role as a sponsor for the QS I-GAUGE' Institution of Happiness' Conclave. The event provided a platform to discuss the importance of emotional and mental well-being in educational institutions. Our Pro-Chancellor, Mr Abhay G. Chebbi, participated as a speaker and shared valuable insights on mindfulness, joy, and happiness.
Mr Chebbi's Reflections on the Event
During the conclave, Mr Chebbi reflected on a significant moment from 21 years ago, when he met Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) auditorium. This meeting occurred during the 'Leveraging Turbulent Times for Competitive Advantage conference, ' which shaped his thoughts on mindfulness and happiness. Mr Chebbi emphasised the importance of seeking happiness within oneself and cultivating joy through various practices.
Survey Findings on Happiness
Mr Chebbi also discussed the results of the QS I-GAUGE' Institution of Happiness' Survey, which gathered responses from over 1,60,000 students and 21,000 faculty members across 108 institutions. The survey found that a strong sense of belonging and inclusivity in educational environments is critical to enhancing happiness among students and faculty members.
Importance of Traditional Practices
In his address, Mr Chebbi highlighted the significance of traditional Indian Knowledge Systems in promoting resilience and well-being. He pointed out the importance of yoga, mindfulness, character building, and community service in fostering mental and emotional health. These practices, he noted, contribute to personal growth and help individuals build a strong foundation for well-being.
A Platform for Mental and Emotional Well-Being
Mr Chebbi commended the Institution of Happiness for creating a space for discussing emotional and mental well-being alongside academic growth. He emphasized that addressing mental health and emotional resilience is essential for the holistic development of students in educational institutions.
Alliance University remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote well-being and academic excellence. Through such partnerships, we aim to create an inclusive and positive environment for students and faculty alike.
