Alliance University marked World Mental Health Day with a dedicated event to promote resilience and mental wellness in its community. The observance, an initiative of the World Federation for Mental Health and supported by the World Health Organisation, was organised by the Department of Student Support Services (DoSSS) in collaboration with Team HR. This event allowed faculty, staff, and students to engage in meaningful discussions on mental health, encouraging proactive approaches to emotional well-being. Through various interactive sessions and presentations, the event aimed to break the stigma around mental health and provide practical tools for managing stress in personal and professional settings.
Keynote Session on Emotional First Aid
Dr Ashwini N V, a senior psychologist, Director of Muktha Foundation, CEO of Flourish School, and visiting faculty member at Jain (Deemed-to-be University), delivered a keynote talk on 'Nurturing Resilience in Professional and Personal Life through Emotional First Aid.' The session provided self-care and emotional balance strategies, emphasizing the importance of resilience in handling challenges.
Student Role-Play on Work-Life Balance
A student-led role-play presentation focused on work-life balance, fostering an open dialogue around mental health. This presentation was a platform to address the challenges of balancing professional and personal responsibilities, encouraging students to break the stigma surrounding mental health issues.
Guided Meditation for Mindfulness
Ms Sakshi Jauhari, a counselling psychologist at Alliance University, led a guided meditation session. This session introduced practical mindfulness tools, helping participants practice techniques that support mental wellness and reduce stress.
Stress Relief Activities at the Harmony Hub
The 'Harmony Hub,' curated by Ms Arathi Jose, a counselling psychologist at Alliance University, featured stress-relief activities such as Mandala art, mood charts, and self-assessment tools. These activities provided participants with methods for enhancing self-awareness and managing stress effectively.
