06 February, 2023
The Computer Society of India (CSI) – Alliance University Chapter was inaugurated on the Central Campus. The chapter was inaugurated by Dr. Sundaresh B. S., Managing Committee Member of the CSI Bangalore Chapter in the presence of Alliance College of Engineering and Design (ACED) department heads, faculty members, and students. With the objective of facilitating research, knowledge sharing, and learning among students, this Chapter provides a platform for students to actively participate in various CSI initiatives, such as workshops, hackathons, industry internships, webinars, and other events. This, in turn, provides students with a wealth of exposure and hands-on experience in the field of Information Technology.
CSI works in alignment with its objective of Information Technology knowledge dissemination to IT professionals, Industry verticals and Academia. CSI as a professional platform strives to minimize the skill gaps between Industry and Academia through various technical programs. The student chapter will also enable students to hold localized activities within campus to provide exposure and increase their technology skills.
During the inauguration, Dr. Sundaresh highlighted the need for students to enroll and actively participate in activities conducted by professional organizations. He stressed the importance and need of mentorship in furthering one’s career. He cited several examples including that of Steve Jobs to emphasize the importance of mentorship and how it paves way to a successful career. He also spoke about the latest technology trends and ways in which students can gain experience and exposure to these technologies. He also stressed the need to upskill young graduates to increase employability.
Alliance University’s Computer Science Department focuses on the same and strives to provide the highest exposure to students through in and out of classroom activities. Further, the CSI chapter at Alliance University is directly linked to Computer Science Department’s mission of imparting critical thinking, humanistic and scientific inquiry skills, and capabilities to ACED students. The department started a membership drive to enroll more students and announced the plans of a series of exciting activities in the coming months to be hosted under the CSI Alliance University Student Chapter.
