A Competition on Innovation - Alliance University celebrates National Engineers Day

Alliance College of Engineering and Design, Alliance University celebrated ‘National Engineers Day’ on September 15, 2022, where young and budding engineers showcased their new and innovative inventions in a competition that marked celebrations of the day. The event provided students with a platform to come forward and present their skills and expertise in front of many leaders from renowned companies.
The areas covered in the competition by the students were Technical (hardware and / or software) solutions to societal issues. The following were the indicative themes of the competition:
- Health / Medical Devices
- Clean Water / Renewable Energy / Electric Vehicles
- Agriculture / Sustainable Practices / Use of Drones
- Home Automation / Security / Kitchen
- Personal / Wearables / Fitness / Entertainment
- Information Technology / Cloud Computing
- Manufacturing / 3D Printing
- Automation / Robotics / IOT / AI / ML
- Educational Technologies / Financial Technologies
The competition was judged by industry experts and was headed by Mr. Aravind Ajad, Chief of Technology of Wipro Limited, with inputs from Mr. Ramesh Yechangunja, VP-Technology, First Source Company; Mr. Govindarajan Kannappan, CEO, Niftrix Technologies; Mr. Ashok Bhat, Practice Head, IBM India; Mr. Devidas Komarath, Manager - Product Development, Siemens Technology, India; Mr. Sunil Nayek, Deputy Manager, Toyota Kirloskar; and Ms. Sudha Ponnuswamy, Trucks Program Planning Supervisor, Ford India.
Together, the panel evaluated over thirty-plus working models and presentations, which were showcased in the event. The event witnessed the participation of students not only from the School of Engineering but also from the School of business. Their paths and model designs varied, but their goals were all the same: success & innovative ideas.
A total of 28 projects and 22 posters were shortlisted for the final competition, which was judged by eminent jury members from across the industry spectra.
The event was well mentored and hosted by Prof. Harinath from Electronics, Communications Engineering Department (ACED). The Top 14 projects and 9 posters were shortlisted, and the Chairman of the Jury panel declared the same during the valedictory session. Dr. Reeba Korah, Interim Dean, ACED was emphatic on pursuing such events to nurture talent and encouraged more students to join the bandwagon of innovation to take the country to greater heights.
The winners of this competition will participate in the Tech Conclave 2022, one of India’s biggest tech festivals that would be hosted by Alliance University in collaboration with the National Informative Centre (NIC).
