Alliance University hosted the 3rd Advisory Board Meeting on 18-19 July 2014. The University was privileged to have the esteemed presence of its eclectic board members from across the globe. , Chancellor, Alliance University welcomed all the board members for an extensive two-day meeting that focused on various aspects of the University’s growth and future plans. This included review of the last academic year, performance of various schools and colleges, innovativeness in the programs offered, current state of the University and future plans.

The advisory board members spared time to meet the faculty cohort of all academic units of the University and shared their perspectives on how each one of them can contribute in making Alliance a world-class university. The board members commended the good job done by every individual at Alliance and stated that as the reason for making Alliance the best private University of India in 2014.

Dr. Jagdish N Sheth, Chair of the Advisory Board of Alliance University, emphasised on the importance of interdisciplinary research in a growing educational institution. Dr. Robert A Easter, Member, Advisory Board, shared his perspectives with the faculty members of Alliance College of Engineering and Design, on ‘Building a Top College of Engineering’. Dr. Tan Chin Tiong, Member, Advisory Board, has been an instrumental force in creating leading universities and institutes in Singapore and his address to the faculty of the Alliance School of Business was on ‘The Singapore Management University (SMU) Story’, that set the stage for a case study on creating a globally acclaimed business school. Dr. Howard O Hunter, Member, Advisory Board, addressed the faculty at the Alliance School of Law on ‘Development of the Curriculum and Other Matters’. Dr. Ken W Harmon, Member, Advisory Board, very enthusiastically presented his views on ‘Practical Steps for Building a Positive Culture’, in an educational institution, and shared the importance of creating such a culture across the University to enhance growth and learning. Other members of the Advisory Board who actively engage with the University in its development are Dr. Bharat K Singh, Aditya Birla Group, Mr. Bhaskar Bhat, Titan Company and Mr. Pratik Kumar, Wipro Ltd.

Every member at Alliance University was in awe of the knowledge and commitment with which the board members presented their ideas and made their presence at the University a memorable one. The parting note from the advisory board members were a real encouragement to the hosts as it would create ripples for everyone at Alliance to do better and achieve more by the time we gear up for the next advisory board meeting.
