The Alliance Centre for Criminal Justice Administration and Gender Studies (ACCJAGS) at the Alliance School of Law held the debate competition "Redefining Justice | Series II (2024)." This event aimed to address key issues related to inclusivity and equity within the legal system. By offering a platform for in-depth discussion, ACCJAGS sought to engage students in exploring how legal frameworks can be improved to better serve diverse communities. The competition provided an opportunity for students to develop their skills and contribute to meaningful conversations about justice and reform in the legal field. 

Event Details 

The debate competition was conducted under the guidance of Dr. V. Shyam Kishore, Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and Dean of the Alliance School of Law. Dr. Kishore, along with Dr. Devaiah NG, Program Director for B.A. LL. B. (Hons.) and B.B.A. LL. B. (Hons.), addressed the participants during the opening ceremony. Their speeches provided a foundational perspective on the event's theme and set a purposeful tone for the debates. 

Mentorship and Support 

The event also received substantial support from the faculty members of the Alliance School of Law. Dr. Amit Bhaskar, Dr. Sanjay Kumar Pandey, Dr. Smita Satapathy, Mr. Abhinav Kumar, Mr. Sarthak Sharma, and Mr. Rishi Bhargava were instrumental in mentoring the students. Competition Overview 

The debate competition offered students an opportunity to enhance their skills and prepare for their future roles as legal professionals. Participants engaged in two rounds of debate, demonstrating their skills in reasoning, argumentation, and legal knowledge. The panels of expert judges evaluated the debates, providing feedback and assessing the students' performances. This setup allowed students to gain practical experience and receive constructive criticism, crucial for their development as advocates for legal reform.
