Alliance University recently concluded its highly anticipated inter-university fest, Alliance ONE 2.0, marking a significant milestone in its commitment to promoting sustainable development. The event, held from April 18th to April 20th, witnessed enthusiastic participation from esteemed institutions such as RV University, Jain University - Faculty of Engineering, Center for Management Studies, CMS Business School, SSMRV, and National School of Business, alongside teams from Alliance University itself.
The fest kicked off on April 18th with the inaugural ceremony, featuring a presidential address by Mr. Abhay G. Chebbi, Pro-Chancellor of Alliance University. He welcomed all the jury members and participants, emphasizing the importance of awareness about sustainable development goals. Mr. Chebbi highlighted that these goals are the collective way to secure a cleaner planet for future generations. He also reiterated Alliance University's commitment to contributing to achieving global goals through quality education and acknowledged the support of various private and public enterprises in creating platforms for a sustainable ecosystem.
Following Mr. Chebbi's address, Dr. Priestly Shan, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Academic Affairs at Alliance University, provided insights into the evolution of sustainable development goals, with an attainment target of 2030, succeeding the millennial development goals. Dr. Shan emphasized the significance of transformative thought leadership in education to better adapt to sustainable development goals, thus paving the way for a more sustainable future.
Throughout the event, participants engaged in a series of activities, including cultural performances, artistic expressions, and sporting competitions, all aimed at promoting sustainability and addressing real-world challenges aligned with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals. On April 18th, functional rounds and fashion events took place, showcasing innovative solutions and creative expressions related to sustainability.
On April 19th, physical competitions and music and dance performances enthralled the audience, highlighting the importance of physical well-being and cultural expression in sustainable development efforts. The fest continued on April 20th, with a small part of physical rounds followed by the valedictory ceremony, symbolizing the culmination of the event and celebrating the achievements of the participants.
An esteemed panel of jurors, including Karthik Kittu (Chief of Staff to Chairman, Start-up Karnataka), Himanshu B (Founder, Everything Recycles), Anil Vaidan (CEO & Founder, Geras Health), Rachana Sehgal (Model, Owner & Founder, Luxe by Roma), Ankita (Bharathanatyam & Dance Instructor, Kalanjali), Pallavi Raghavendra (Choreographer, Film Industry), and Raksha Rao (Carnatic Musician and Founder, Mahati Nada Kendra), evaluated the participating teams based on their creativity, innovation, and contribution to sustainable development. The winners were awarded significant cash prizes totaling Rs. 3,75,000, recognizing their outstanding achievements and contributions.
The valedictory ceremony, held on April 20th, concluded the event with speeches from Alliance University leaders and esteemed guests. Mr. Mathew Thanakachan, Senior Director-Student Services, reflected on the success of Alliance ONE 2.0, while Dr. Abhishek Venkteshwar, Assistant Director-Student Services, provided a summary of the event, highlighting its impact and significance. Dr. Chandni Pathak , Assistant Professor-Department of Science conducted the lucky draw, with the lucky contestant winning a Decathlon bicycle.
