The 59th Congress of The Indian Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (ISTAM) was inaugurated by Padma Bhushan Prof. U R Rao on 17th December in the presence of the Hon’ble Chancellor , President of ISTAM , Prof. Pradeep Siddheshwar, Pro Vice Chancellor (Academics), Dr. Anubha Singh and Secretary, ISTAM Prof. PVSN Murthy. Apart from the Presidential Address, there were 5 Memorial Lectures and 12 Invited Lectures by eminent speakers from different countries. There were 21 Technical Sessions in which 204 researchers presented their papers in the areas of Fluid Mechanics and Solid Mechanics. The participants had come from 8 different countries such as the US, China, Japan, etc., and over 120 institutions from within India.
