Flight

I look at the horizon and I see -
My past spread across like a rugged carpet.
I've run long enough
away from my own shadows.
I cease.
I cease.
I cease.

I'm going to remove the clutches of the rusted
chains of pain, abuse and trauma.
I feel
the touch of wind on my flesh - so raw;
the warmth of my star - so safe.
I hear the chirping sounds of a promising future,
Rustling creaks of healing,
Splashes of cleansing as waves of motivation hit on my presented shores.

I endure. I wait. I walk. I run.
I fly.
I fly.
I fly.
to my new sky of hope and strength.

Demons and I

'Demons', perhaps, can be what you choose to name -
The spirits that dwell on your insides gnawing
Leaving you stranded with your empty soul with
Corpuscles that stay dark and depleted,
Muttering words of hate and despair.

Whispering fear into you but they fail to scare me.
Spelling your words with tears but they fail to hurt me.
Spitting venom out of your mouth but they fail to poison me.
Your demons - they make you into the devil himself but you do not frighten me.

I will -
Make you love the waves that hit the shores of your empty mind.
Make you sing hymns of hearty laughter that cracks your broken heart.

I'll make you love yourself and your mind
Even if you choose to remain with the devil himself.

For I am an esoteric being,
And I can seduce you into taking paths with me -
Roads that can make you feel warmth of the full moon night
or Paths that burn your flesh through your melting skin - helpless.

Call me what you want,
I will fight your demons for you.
Push me away from you,
I will take your spirits from you.
I am done being taken for granted, honey
You broke me down into pieces
and you let me build a sword of my own flesh and blood.

Don't they say, "Hurt an artist and you will see their Masterpiece."
You hurt me, and here I am.
