The Alliance Moot Court Committee (AMCC) organised Intra Moot Court Competition in association with Alliance School of Law, Alliance University, on 12th and 13th May 2021 . The competition witnessed an enrolment of more than 20 teams and was held virtually in due consideration to second wave of COVID-19 engulfing our nation.
Critical thinking, communication skills, and confidence are some of the greatest assets for a successful lawyer. In order to empower law students aspiring to become champions of law with such skillsets that promise growth, mooting is one of the indispensable practices that acclimatises them with real-world court proceedings and hence stimulates the process of honing their lawyering skills with remarkable proficiency.
The opening ceremony began with noted dignitaries gracing the occasion with their presence:

- Chief Guest of the Event – Dr. Jyotsna Yagnik - Retired Judge

Mr. Abhay G. Chebbi, Pro-Chancellor, Alliance University, inaugurated the competition with a note of thanks and gratitude in favour of the School of Law for conducting this competition. He stressed upon the importance of active and participative learning and extended his full support for all such endeavours. Mr. Abhay also shared his valuable insights on the importance of litigation and exemplified precepts from some of the prominent legal case studies in the history of Indian legal space to support the importance of holding such events and improvise on the learning experience for law students.
Dr. Anubha Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Alliance University, initiated her address with an appreciation for the faculty and coordinators of Intra Moot Court Competition and stressed on the importance of holding such events for knowledge dissemination and intellectual cultivation. Dr. Anubha also shed some light on Aristotelian theory of rhetoric and the significance of ethos, logos and pathos in developing a solid foundation of profound articulation and impactful communication. She described the detailed aspects of credibility, rationale as well as the emotions incentivising a lawyer’s great success in presenting an argument.
Dr. Jyotsna Yagnik, Former Principal Judge, City, Civil and Sessions Courts, Ahmedabad, Gujarat was the Chief Guest of the event. Dr. Jyotsna pointed out the importance of learning the art of mooting for law students and how it can benefit them in their future careers. In her address, she described litigation as an open horizon for law students to explore and mark their significance for centuries to come. Dr. Jyotsna eulogised the construct of litigatory excellence among lawyers to become challengers of the status quo for the cause of justice and contribute in the harmony of society under the ambit of constitutionality. She also took precepts from her profound experience as a judge and reflected upon the challenges faced during her tenure.
Dr. Kiran Gardner, Professor and Dean, Alliance School of Law, Alliance University, took the proceedings further with her opening remarks on the backdrop of Intra Moot Court Competition.
The event witnessed nine external judges namely Prof. Rahul Arora - Assistant Professor - JIMS Noida - Prof. Akanshu Gupta - Assistant Professor - Bhartiya Vidyapeeth - Delhi, Advocate - Ananth Bhatt, Prof. Pushpesh Joshi - Assistant Professor - Delhi University, Utkarsh Srivastava - Corporate – BSE - Mumbai, Advocate - Saharsh Choudhary and Dr. Vrushti Patel - Assistant Professor - Auro University. The presence of honourable judges reflected a consolidated portfolio of diversified and vast experience in legal profession chairing the session and evaluating all participants.
Dr. Kiran Gardner, Dean- Alliance School of Law, concluded the event with a vote of thanks and Prof. Abhishek Srivastava, the Coordinator of AMCC summed up the whole event.
