Mr. Shaunak Desai

Shaunak Desai is a multidisciplinary designer, entrepreneur, and educator with over 12 years of experience in the design field. He is also a public policy professional specializing in land regulation and urban governance. A professional architect, Shaunak holds a postgraduate degree in urban design from the prestigious School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), recognized as an Institute of National Importance. Additionally, he is a Google-certified user experience designer.
Shaunak co-founded the design-led startup ‘RoohaniRang,’ which focuses on creating 100% handmade and sustainable products. He is also the founder of the ‘UrbanArch Foundation,’ which is dedicated to documenting built heritage and Indic iconography. The foundation has conducted documentation and research on 12 destinations in India in collaboration with various architecture schools. As an independent designer, Shaunak specializes in the design of residential spaces.
He has spent seven years mentoring architecture and design students. As an academician, he has led the student activity council, organized exhibitions and national-level events, delivered seminars, and conducted workshops on various aspects of space design.
Currently, he is a fellow with a think tank based in Delhi. He is an expert on board on matters related to Urban Planning & governance. The think tank supports various states in India with reforms in building regulations and urban governance.
