Mr. Arun Sankar R

Arun Sankar is an alumnus and former faculty member of Rukmini Devi College of Fine Arts, Kalakshetra Foundation, Chennai, an institution of national importance under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. He holds a master’s degree in Bharatanatyam and has been honored with the Best Male Dancer award by the Madras Music Academy, Chennai. Arun is an empanelled Bharatanatyam artiste with the Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Culture.

Arun has represented India internationally for FOI under the auspices of the Sangeet Natak Akademi and the Ministry of External Affairs, performing in countries such as Zimbabwe, South Africa, Azerbaijan, Vietnam, Mauritius, Madagascar, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka.

With a wealth of experience in the global dance community, Arun has served as an instructor and academic coordinator in dance companies across the United Kingdom, Canada, the United States, and Singapore. He is also a trained instructor from The Art of Living International Centre, Bengaluru. Currently, Arun Sankar is a research scholar with the Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady.

  • T S Parthasarathy Award for the outstanding male dancer – Madras Music Academy, Chennai.
  • Yuva Puraskar 2022 - Samvedya Centre for Arts, Bengaluru. Fellowship - CCRT, Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India
  • Ramakrishna Mission award – Merit Student Award from Kalakshetra Foundation, Chennai.
  • Scholarship from the Kalki Foundation, Chennai

  • Arun represented India under the aegis of Sangeet Natak Akademi (Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India & Indian High Commission) New Delhi for FOI in various countries including Zimbabwe, South Africa, Vietnam, Mauritius, Madagascar, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Azerbaijan
  • Performance at The Kennedy Centre, Washington DC for an official event organised by the Indian Consulate
  • ‘Har Ghar Dhyan’ (Colleges and Schools) – An initiative by the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India in collaboration with The Art of Living International Foundation for stress management for the college and school students.
