Mr. Akhil Tamta

Mr. Akhil Tamta specializes in technical subjects of Pattern Making and Garment Construction. He teaches subjects that extend to various facets of fashion, from celebrity couture and bespoke fashion to critical thinking and design process. He has taught as an Assistant Professor in Fashion Design Department at NIFT – Mumbai. He has held Adjunct Faculty positions at prestigious institutions such as Unitedworld Institute of Design (UID) - Ahmedabad, Istituto Marangoni - Mumbai, ITM – Mumbai and Symbiosis Institute of Design – Pune. He has been associated as a Visiting Faculty at various centers of NIFT, thereby mentoring countless aspiring designers, guiding them through the nuances of pattern development, garment construction, and wearable art.

With over 25 years of extensive experience spanning across academia, consulting, and operational leadership in the fashion industry, he plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of fashion design and tailoring.

In the realm of consulting, he lends his strategic insights to startups and established brands alike. Notable projects include crafting brand strategies and operational frameworks for a startup tailoring brand in Chennai, setting up the tailoring processes & delivering training modules across SAARC & GCC regions. He has developed training content for online platforms aimed at nurturing the next generation of fashion design talent.

Along with his academic and consulting endeavors, he has held pivotal roles at renowned organizations such as Raymond Limited and Arvind Limited. There, he spearheaded operations, vendor development, training initiatives, driving revenue growth, and ensuring the delivery of top-notch tailored garments to customers worldwide. He launched a newsletter for the tailoring community aimed at continuous learning and skill development, which was the first of its kind in the industry.  He has also represented the Indian Master Tailors Association at a global platform of World Federation of Master Tailors, in Italy.

He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Design from the National Institute of Fashion Technology, New Delhi, and is deeply committed to fostering innovation, excellence, and sustainability within the fashion industry.
