Dr. Rohith I J

Dr. Rohith I.J is an accomplished academic and researcher in Aerospace Engineering with over nine years of experience in teaching and research. His expertise spans Satellite Technology, Space Mechanics, Satellite System Design, Aircraft Maintenance, and related fields. Driven by a passion for innovation and knowledge dissemination, Dr. Rohith focuses on bridging the gap between theoretical concepts and practical applications, inspiring future aerospace engineers, and contributing to advancements in the field.

Dr. Rohith earned his Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from Noorul Islam Centre for Higher Education (NICHE) in 2021. He also completed his M.E. and B.E. in Aerospace Engineering from NICHE, graduating as a Gold Medallist in both programs. His academic achievements are complemented by his professional contributions, including serving as the Coordinator of the Centre of Excellence in Satellite Technology at Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science from 2022 to 2024. Earlier, he played key roles in the NIUSAT Nano Satellite development project as Associate Project Director (2016–2021) and Satellite Design Engineer (2014–2016) at NICHE.

Dr. Rohith’s dedication to aerospace innovation has earned him numerous accolades, including the Young Researcher Award and Best Concept Research Paper Award from Lockheed Martin, USA, as well as the Young Scientist – Aerospace Award from the Royal Aeronautical Society. He has made notable contributions to satellite mission design and aircraft maintenance, particularly in leading the design, testing, and mission analysis of the NIUSAT Nano Satellite and KCGVERGHESE Satellite. Additionally, he has established two Centres of Excellence in Satellite Technology, significantly advancing research and education in this domain.

As a prolific researcher, Dr. Rohith holds two granted patents in the fields of satellites and aircraft. His scholarly contributions include four SCI-indexed publications, 18 Scopus-indexed journal articles, and 19 papers in open-access journals. His expertise encompasses satellite constellations, space mission design, orbital mechanics, and aircraft systems design and maintenance. He is proficient in advanced tools such as Satellite Tool Kit (STK), CATIA, ANSYS, and MATLAB, enhancing his technical capabilities.

Dr. Rohith has also completed specialized training in aircraft maintenance for Boeing 747-300 and Cessna 172R, as well as short courses on computational fluid dynamics and nano-satellites. He participated in a United Nations Office of Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) training program on Disaster Management using space-based applications in Beijing, China. His blend of technical expertise, research achievements, and commitment to education positions him as a avid researcher in aerospace engineering and satellite technology.
