Dr. Kaustubh Ray

Dr. Kaustubh Ray teaches philosophy and praxis of design, with specific focus on moving images. His teaching encompasses courses in animation and film theory, semiotics and visual culture, narrative design, transmedia storytelling, screenwriting, drawing for animation, character design, storyboarding, stop-motion animation, experimental animation, editing, photo-narrative, narrative integration for games, communication theory, contemporary concerns in design thinking and philosophy of social research. Kaustubh has a doctorate in Cultural Studies from the Centre for Studies in Social Sciences, Calcutta. He is a postgraduate in communication design from the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad. His industry experience encompasses concept development, narrative design, direction, pre-production, editing, illustration, motion graphics, visual design, photography, design thinking and systems design. His research interests include but are not limited to understanding the intersection of techno-aesthetics with the history of systems of thought.
