Dr. Aruna Mushtaq

Dr. Aruna Mushtaq is a historian with a focus on India's trade history. Holding a PhD in History from Aligarh Muslim University, her research delves into India's External Trade during the 13th to 15th centuries. Her academic interests extend to various areas, including trade history, economic history, ocean studies, nationalism studies, and Medieval Indian political thought. Recognized by institutions like the Indian Council of Historical Research, her research encompasses a wide range of topics, notably India-China trade relations. As an educator in Kashmir and Bangalore, Dr. Aruna is dedicated to nurturing curiosity and critical thinking in her students. Beyond academia, she enjoys sports, having represented Jammu and Kashmir in national championships, and actively participates in cultural events. Dr. Aruna's journey exemplifies a blend of academic rigor, a commitment to teaching, and a vibrant appreciation for life's diverse experiences.

  • Represented J&K State in Softball National Championship, 2009, held at Kadappa, Andhra Pradesh.
  • Represented J&K State in the Baseball National Championship, 2010, held at Madgaon, Goa.
  • Represented Kashmir division in the Basketball State Championship, 2008 held at Kargil.
  • Participated in the first Snow Baseball Championship, 2010, held in Gulmarg, played on snow for the first time in the world, organized by J&K Baseball Association and remained winners.
  • Participated in the JK Bait Bazi Competition, 2007 and got third position, organised by Doordarshan Srinagar.
  • Participated in the 11th J&K State Taekwondo Championship, 2010 and got 4th position.
  • Participated in a number of Inter-District Sports and Cultural Events viz. Volleyball, Kho-Kho, Independence Day Cultural Programmes.
