Prof. Anjan Chakraborty
Adjunct Faculty, Alliance School of Design
Mr. Anjan Chakraborty comes with an M.Des. in Visual Communication with a specialization in Graphic Design from the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad (1986) and is an Adjunct Faculty member at Alliance University’s School of Design, bringing his deep industry and academic experience to the classroom.
With over 35 years of experience spanning design, branding, publication, and education, Anjan Chakravorty has worked extensively in creative direction and project management. Key roles include serving as the Dean at the School of Communication, World University of Design, overseeing strategic direction, pedagogy, curriculum planning, and industry outreach. Previous positions include Head of Design at Times of India, where he managed the design of Metro Supplements, Crest, and The Speaking Tree, and as a Consultant Art Director for India Today Plus.
Anjan has been involved in part-time teaching since 1992 and full-time since 2020, focusing on subjects like Design Process, Communication Theories, Typography, and Publication Design. He has held visiting and adjunct faculty positions at prominent institutions including the School of Planning & Architecture (SPA) and National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), contributing to curriculum development, student assessments, and project guidance.
Anjan’s expertise covers branding, identity design, art direction, and publication design, with experience in client interaction, project supervision, and a strong understanding of relevant technologies.
Notable projects include branding and identity design for corporate and NGO sectors, magazine and publication design for clients like The Oberoi Magazine, Helpage India, and various NGOs, as well as exhibition design for events such as the National Drinking Water Mission and H.H. The Dalai Lama’s conference on Tibet.
