Department of Computer Science and Information Technology of Alliance College of Engineering and Design, organized a Cybersecurity Awareness Week to create general awareness in the interest of public safety. The event was held in a blended mode and witnessed the participation of more than 300 students across streams on a seminar, a quiz, and a webinar addressing issues pertinent to cybersecurity.

The first session on Fundamentals about Cybersecurity was addressed by Dr. Rathnakar Achary, Associate Professor, Department of CSE/IT, Alliance College of Engineering and Design, Alliance University on October 29, 2021. Dr. Achary discussed the Security of Systems and Information, CIA Triads, Confidentiality, Integrity and Maintenance, and Updating of Security.

The seminar proceeded with an online quiz held on October 30, 2021, where students contended questions related to cybersecurity issues and concerns. Ms. Ipshitha B. B. (III year, ECE) won the first prize, Mr. Amit Vikram (4th year, IT) won the second prize and Mr. Eshwar V. (2nd Year, IT) won the third prize respectively.

Further to the concluding sessions of a two-day event, a webinar was conducted on 30th October 2021, “Awareness for cyber security and career opportunities". Mr. Karthick Vigneshwar P. S., Director and Technical Advisor for infySEC UK in Ethical Hacking and Cyber Forensics shared valuable insights on the bits and bytes of cybersecurity and how ethical hacker and cyber security specialist and engineer navigate their careers into this field. The session began with an initial discussion on cybersecurity and ethics. It also observed an enlightening session on ways of how information and data over the internet travels and how it is secured with various ways and so many devices across the internet.

The concluding remarks were focused on the importance of Cybersecurity Awareness since everything is digital now and the foot of every work in almost every industry has a digital trace. Everything ranging from medical to shopping to learning to buying and selling, there is a large pile of information available to everyone, it becomes important to understand the need of maintaining a safe space for devices, people, and end to end data and knowledge and therefore all these information is of great use in this era.
