The Ambedkar Economics Foundation hosted an event themed ‘The Problem of the Rupee’ where Alliance University Pro-Chancellor, Mr. Abhay G. Chebbi was invited as a Guest of Honour. The event was in celebration of the centenary year of the book of the same name as the theme by Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar. This book was considered as a guiding tool for establishment of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in the year 1935 and highlights the history of Indian currency and banking. Alliance University participated in the event as an academic partner to celebrate the life and learning of one of founders of the Indian constitution.

The event also had the auspicious presence of dignitaries: Shri. Basavaraj S. Bommai, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka; Dr. C. N. Ashwath Narayan, Hon’ble Minister of Higher Education, IT / BT, Science and Technology and Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood, Government of Karnataka; and Shri. Kota Srinivas Poojary, Minister of Social Welfare Department and Backward Classes Welfare Department, Government of Karnataka; and many more. The keynote address was made by Prof. Sukhadeo Thorat, Indian economist, educationist, professor, writer and former chairman of the University Grants Commission.

Students and faculty from Alliance University also participated in the event, wherein they had the opportunity to learn on the aspects of Economics from various renowned academicians.
