Legal Awareness visit to the Government Higher Primary School, Anekal
30 August, 2023On the afternoon of 30th August, 2023, the Alliance University Legal Services Clinic went on an awareness visit to the Government Higher Primary (Kannada and English) School at Anekal. The main aim of the visit is to create awareness about the Right to Education, protection and maintenance of clean and healthy environment and various contemporary socio-legal issues and enhance the understanding of the legal system among students.
The significance of the visit is to enhance the principal fundamentality’s among the primary school students, between 5th to 8th grade students, as they will be the one who were creating the future of our nation. As they primary students, the clinic mainly focused on the engagement of the students as well as the fun learning. For the active involvement of the students, the student members prepared the quiz and other interactive activities.
The members started with the quiz part, by showing the pictures, the students answered to that quiz, where the students were actively involved in answering the questions, includes our President, PM, Supreme Court, High Court, Leaders, Actor so on and so forth. The enthusiasm shown by the students were really amazing which makes the awareness programme much easier, as the students were also actively asking questions.
Emphasized on the Right to Education, where all the children have the right to get free education till fourteen years of age, and explained the reason why education is important. In addition to that the members also explained the significance of Healthy Environment, where we should maintain the clean environment and the protect the nature and also to have the compassion for the living creatures. Also, members talked about protection from discrimination and harm by the use of practical scenarios and the related examples. At the same time students were educated on their responsibilities as a young citizen, emphasizing the values like respect for the law, empathy and also encouraged to explore the idea of the responsible citizenship. And also discussed on the other fundamental rights, where everyone is equal and there should be no discrimination, Freedom of speech and expression, right to live.
When the member asked the question what is your ambition, the response to that question is really amazing. Where most of the students said that they want to become an Advocate, Doctor, Engineers etc., And when we asked for reason, they said that they want to help the people and want to develop the nation. These answers shows that the students were diligent as well as shows their positive approach towards the society.
Further, the clinic displayed the PPT which are related to the legal awareness program done by AULSC. After that, the members answered the quires which was raised by the students. One of the interesting question which was raised by the student was Why is the Lady Justice wearing a blindfold and what was the reason behind it? And member replied that the blindfold represents the impartiality and objectivity of the law and that it doesn't let outside factors, such as politics, wealth or fame, influence its decisions. It is appreciable to see that the students were asking these questions at the primary school level, which is amazing.
In addition to that, the members suggested that if their parents or family members are facing any legal issues in the court and when they couldn’t able to heir the lawyer, they can get the free legal aid, and also provided the AULSC address for free advocate.
It is appreciable to see the students were merriment learners, and asking the interesting questions which kept the awareness programme very interactive and fun filling, which also makes the members glad to answer those queries to the students and it is great that they know their fundamental rights in their primary schoolings. At the end of the awareness programme the members distributed the gifts to the students.
