National Voters’ Day
25 January, 2023On 25th January,2023 on National voters’ day, student members of AULSC celebrated it as any other important day as it was the day to observe the formation of the first Election Commission. This Election Commission is a constitutional body under the Article 324 of the Indian Constitution. This article envisages the purpose of conducting free and fair elections for all the citizens of India with purpose of electing the representative they deem fit. As a part of such an entity we along with our professor Abhishek Srivastava took an opportunity to educate the people in and around our university about the importance of electing their representatives and the rights available to them as a citizen of India. In a country as populated as India the need to vote is very important and it is considered that the most powerful weapon in a democracy is vote, hence, voting becomes extremely important as a right.
During such a campaign student of AULSC went around the campus that is, from Admin block to food court that is in the extreme ends of the university and visited such various departments of the university and interacted with each and everyone. To our astonishment there were few individuals who weren’t even registered as voters, hence we took the responsibility to register them as voters using the placards made which depicted how the registration needs to be done. All together it was a very insightful day which helped us also to understand the power of voting and help others understand the same as well.
