Tree of Hope - Marmara, Organised by Vimochana on March 6, 2015

VIMOCHANA, NGO , Forum for Women's Rights, NGO conducted the "MARMARA" –Tree of Life people speak. We called it Tree of HOPE. Around 15 volunteers from Vimochana participated in the discussion.

Around 70 Students from Alliance School of Law undergoing the sociology course attended the sessions and discussed various women issues like domestic violence, dowry, safety of women, superstitious beliefs, hope for youth, etc.

Feedback from the students revealed that these discussions helped them to understand grass root realities of women issues.

On the occasion of International Women's Day 2015, Alliance Centre for Women Empowerment conducted various competitions for faculty/staff and students including a safety training program in collaboration with Vanguardz Pro Skills Ltd at the Central campus.

The competitions conducted are as follows :

Rangoli

35 students including faculty participated in the competitions. Certificates were issued to the participants and winners.

Learning self-protection is never a waste of time or money. The knowledge in itself can bring in a woman a great deal of confidence, which can transfer over to the way she can carry herself.

The 3 pronged approach is mainly:

Focusing on Physical Safety

Protection from Sexual Harassment

Building self-esteem

Lt Col (retd) Vijay Bhasker Reddy, CEO, VANGUARDZ PRO SKILLS LTD, Hyderabad conducted the safety training for women students and faculty members at the campus.

The session emphasized on the individual safety measures to be taken while walking on the road, while withdrawing cash from ATM machines, parking lots , social networking sites, etc.

60 students attended the session and feedback reveled that it was an excellent program that should be made mandatory for every women and girl students at the campus.
